“Unbelievable” is the best word to describe my incredible journey with Ellie Scofield and Galloways Farm! A few years ago my husband gave me a gift of riding lessons so I could reconnect with my lifelong passion for horses. I rode as a child and as a young adult, but I hadn’t been riding in over fifteen years. During my first lesson, Ellie patiently watched me ride and encouraged me with both feedback and suggestions. I believe Ellie instinctively knew that she had to work on “me” before we could work on my riding. (I was so nervous; I literally got sick to my stomach after the class!)
Ellie’s training style is candid and self-assured, and this is reflected in her students at Galloways Farm. Through Ellie’s encouragement and under her watchful eye, I have increased both my skill and my confidence. She has never pushed me beyond my capability…yet because of the confidence she instills, I have progressed much further than I ever thought I would go. Ellie doesn’t just teach riding; she develops true partnerships between the rider and the horse.
Today, thanks to Ellie, I own a beautiful horse named Tsundance Kid and I am living my dream at Galloways Farm! The barn is impeccable and Kid has flourished under the training regimen and wonderful care that Ellie and Ken provide. My journey is just getting started…one year after that first lesson with Ellie, I entered my first dressage show - with my first horse…and came back with my first blue ribbon. Who says dreams can’t come true?
